Origin Story of Chordplay
Often times when a new song is released it takes a few days or weeks until the chords to show up online.
Sometimes when a song is too indie or not popular enough then there will be no hope for this song to be tabulated.
That’s what I felt numerous times looking up songs that I want to learn to play.
It’s up to me
Frustration has been a big motivator for me.
I’ll be the content-creator that I was waiting for.
I’ll learn the chords of the obscure and underrated songs that I want to play and share them to the world.
Songs that became mainstream
Unexpectedly, some songs from up and coming bands hit the mainstream.
I can proudly claim that I have created the chords of some now popular songs like SUD – Sila, Clara Benin – Wine, and Munimuni – Sa Hindi Pag-alala to name a few.
Ultimate Competition
There is a well-known website that has chords for almost every song out there.
I started posting my chords there and are still up there today.
One song even has a millions views as of this writing.
Seeing how much traction it got prompted me to create my own website and publish my own chords.
I have added improvements to the UX that I feel was lacking in other sites.
- You can play the reference song in one tab
- Easily browse chords with your phone
Future Goals
My work is in IT Industry and this website is a passion project of mine.
I can see that there is potential here as a chords resource site and blog to write product reviews on my music related purchases.
